melon shawlI finished and blocked my melon shawl on Friday, then wore it proudly on Saturday. This was the easiest shawl I have ever knitted. The body pattern is a simple six row repeat that is easily memorized. I did change the edging pattern, as I did not really like the one shown on the cover of the book. I was inspired by Grumperina and used the narrow point border pattern from the back of the book. I started the shawl about three weeks ago, but I took a week off to work on another project, so it only took me about two weeks to knit.

Pattern: Melon Stitch Shawl from Victorian Lace TodayFinished

Yarn: Spunky Eclectic handpainted laceweight merino in Sangria, 880 yards. I used about 3/4 of the ball.

Needles: Chiao Goo bamboo, size 7, straight for the body and DPNs for the border.

    Size: 72 x 22

  • So very pretty!!! I’m working on my socks, after that I’m trying to think of my next project. I don’t want to get in over my head, but your shawls are just so pretty, I can’t help but want to make one!

What do you wear with your shawls? Colors that match? Plain colors? Just wondering. =)
